Keno is a Chinese game that has been in existence since 200 years before Christ. The game that consisted of a thousand characters was employed to teach kids. Teaching was done with the help of a poem, “The Thousand Characters Classic”, that had a thousand non-repeating rhymes. Initially, the game was referred to as the Chinese Lottery and the glory of inventing it, belongs to the Chinese General Cheung, who made use of the first 120 characters to build a wagering system. Any income from the betting was saved to pay for fighting the barbarians who invaded China. It is recorded, that the Emperor used to play the game two times a dayon a daily basis, and it is continued today. Interestingly, pigeons were employed to transport the results of the lottery. The Chinese prospectors, who moved to California during the gold rush and settled there, took the game over to the United States of America. Keno has always been in the fore front since then.
